Local Gunsmith Recommendations

I’m looking for recommendations for a trusted local gunsmith. If anyone has had positive experiences with repairs or custom work, I’d love to hear about it!

Kankakee area, Patriot Arms in Bourbonais or Titan Tactical in Kankakee.

Gibbs Custom Gunsmithing in Manhattan is pretty good.

Paul at great guns does good work. I’ve used him on a few projects.

Carter’s Guns in Shabbona. He has made leaf springs for old English shotguns, added pads and butt shims, etc. I think the only thing he doesn’t do is checkering.

Good gunsmiths are hard to find these days. I would recommend some kind of sticky thread for them. The ones I have used in North Central IL are either retired or dead, so I would love to find some. I will keep the names already mentioned near me (La Salle County) in mind.
