Modern pistols improvements

Based on what manufacturers have been showcasing recently, are we actually getting real performance enhancements in pistols or are they just giving us some minor cosmetic updates?

Optics-ready slides and better finishes feel like legit upgrades. Other than that, it feels like more of the same

It feels like a mix. There are some real gains in reliability and ready-for-optics setups but a lot of new releases seem like minor tweaks pretending to be major upgrades.
