I have a 2nd season tag for Lowden Miller State Park, and a 3rd season tag for Morrison Rockwood State Park. I scouted Lowden Miller two weeks ago and saw a number of turkeys on the eastside, in a pasture outside the park boundary, and heard a gobble near the river on the north side. I saw nothing anywhere else in the park. I scouted the East side of Morrison Rockwood State Park last weekend, and saw very little turkey sign on the East side (couple hens and heard a gobble). I am going to try and scout the west side of the park this weekend. If anyone has any experience with these parks and would be willing to share some information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You’re basically hunting pressure more than turkeys...find quiet pockets and let everyone else bump birds your way.

Yeah, I have no idea how many people will be out there hunting at the same time. I have never hunted public land for turkeys before, so I have never even seen another turkey hunter when I have been out. I still have access to a couple chunks of private land in IA, and will be hunting at those starting at the beginning of May (probably my best opportunity for a bird, but I might get lucky on the public ground).

Morrison Rockwood on the west side is worth checking out. It tends to be a lot less crowded back there.
