Dan Wesson seems to pop up a lot in convos about premium 1911s. For anyone who's had the chance to own or shoot one, do you think there's a real difference, or is it just hype?

Shoots the same bullet as a Colt, or Ruger, or Springfield. I've no need for the hefty price tag.

And a Kia drives down the same road as a Porsche.

I think the Dan Wessons guns are a good bang for the buck. A step above most of your Springfield armory’s but a smidge below something like a Les Baer.

I ended up modifying my grandpas old gun to carry

(Satire post it’s a CMP range grade)

I shot a friend’s Valor side-by-side with my Springfield Loaded. The differences were definitely there but subtle, a tighter slide fit, better barrel lockup, and a nicer trigger right out of the box. Is it worth twice the price? If you’re competing or carry every day, maybe. For casual range shooting, probably not..

Yeah they’re legit nice but at that level you’re mostly paying for refinement, not a totally different experience
