It's a minty S&W Model 48-3 that is mis-marked as a Model 48 no dash. The 4" versions of the Model 48 are a bit scarce as the 6" & 8 3/8" versions seem to be more plentiful.

Ok! I'm impressed. Any of the .22 mag revolvers are scarce enough, but the 4 inch is actually a ghost. It ranks up there with the 28 gauge Winchester model 12.
Yes, the 4" pre-lock, pre-mim Model 48 revolvers are very scarce. This one cost me $1,300.00. But, that's the advantage of being a member of the S&W Collectors Association. We have a members only forum where a lot of beautiful S&Ws are sold or traded that the general public never has the opportunity to see, let alone acquire.

How long have you been in that association? Sounds cool asf.

I don't remember exactly but it's been at least 30 years.

If you're interested in S&W firearms and would like to join the association, you can do so here: https://theswca.org. The annual membership fee is $50.00. With that, you will receive the S&W Journal and allowed to display your collection at the annual symposium.

There's also the S&W Historical Foundation where you can get a lot of information about your S&W firearm. You can join the SWHF here: https://swhistoricalfoundation.com. There is a one time fee of $100.00 to join with no future fees. Members of the SWCA or the SWHF receive a discount for factory letters.

There are also two online forums dedicated to S&W firearms: www.smith-wessonforum.com and www.smithandwessonforums.com.
