I'm looking to dial in my red dot sight on my defensive pistol at 25 yards. Any tips for getting that zero consistently? Also, what's your go-to ammo for shooting those tight groups?

Thanks

To get started, you might want to use a stable rest or a sandbag to help cut down on any movement from you while shooting. I know it’s just a defensive pistol, but when you're zeroing it in, you really want to keep things consistent. Take your time with it, fire off some slow, focused groups of about 3-5rds. Instead of just adjusting based on a single shot, look at where the center of those groups lands and make your adjustments from there. Keep doing this until your aim lines up perfectly with where your shots are hitting.

When it comes to defensive pistols, I typically start by zeroing in with some solid 115gr or 124gr FMJ ammo. Bbrands like Speer Lawman, Federal American Eagle, or Sellier & Bellot work great for me. They’re reliable and not that expensive. Once I've got everything dialed in, I take a moment to confirm with my carry ammo, which is usually Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot, just to ensure that my point of impact stays pretty consistent. It’s a little extra step, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I’m ready when it counts.
